Agricultural Dealer License Requirements
In general, a license is required to operate as an agricultural dealer. However, there are four specific exemptions to this rule:
- Farmers or farmer groups selling agricultural products they have grown themselves.
- Dealers who pay for agricultural products at the time of purchase using U.S. cash currency or a cash equivalent (e.g., money order, cashier’s check, wire transfer, electronic funds transfer, or debit/credit card).
- Dealers operating as bonded licensees under the federal Packers and Stockyards Act.
- Dealers purchasing less than $1,000 worth of agricultural products from Florida producers (or their agents) during the peak month of the year.
